okay, so i'm not anti halloween, but i just don't find it all that exciting, so despite the rather good re-decoration in here this evening, I will not be posting spooky halloween related fun-things.

Instead, how about a darn good music video by josh pike. I get shivers everytime i hear this song. Makes me want to go forest-ing. It also makes me a little sad somehow.

a very charming cover of bjork's "all is full of love, sung by the Bitone Children's Troupe

(The mission of The Bitone Children’s Home/Troupe is to restore the lives and hopes of Ugandan children between 8 and 18 years old who have been traumatized by the death of their parents or loss of their home due to disease, war, or economic hardship.)

The following photographs are by Gavin Fernandes, and I absolutely love them. His website is very swish.

And now, I will leave you with "The Teenage Song", and a 3 year old explaining Star Wars : )

Enjoy!

the best things
pumpkin, orange, shoes
[info]blackwool
Some very good stuff:

Andy Goldsworthy, one of my favourite artists of all time. He is very amazing...

This next video is rather poorly edited, but it shows some of his most amazing work.

Other rather good things:

www.bestthing.info  The Best Thing project was created as a side project to the webcomic xkcd. The goal is to try to determine the best thing ever through majority vote mediated by decent algorithms. You should go have a look, it's very clever.

So, as voted by this site's users, the top ten best things are:

  1. Being outside at night when it's the perfect temperature
  2. Waking up to your crush knocking on the door and proceeding to make mad monkey love all afternoon
  3. Being able find the perfect, witty response to everything someone says to you
  4. Being able to come up with comebacks right away
  5. Having a 100% sarcastic conversation with someone who thinks you're serious
  6. Meeting that 1% of the population that you actually get along with and can call your friend
  7. Being able to teleport anywhere you wanted just by willing yourself to
  8. Be able to do anything, I said ANYTHING!
  9. Having a pair of magical pants that always had money in the pockets
  10. The ability to make every woman in a room simultaneously hit orgasm simply by walking in.
  11. Secret passages behind bookshelves
  12. Hair that does whatever you want just by thinking about it
  13. Discover that you can stop time at will
  14. Saying the perfect comeback at the perfect time.
  15. Having crazy mind control abilities
  16. Movies that get better every time you see them.
  17. Having feet. It's pretty awesome.
  18. Finding out that every time you reach into your pocket, you find another $100 bill.
  19. Being able to read minds...AND being awfully good looking.
  20. Finding a lamp with a genie who offers you three wishes, and you CAN wish for more wishes.

art of the body, designs for a new generation
pumpkin, orange, shoes
[info]blackwool
So I read an article in Frankie magazine a few months back, about tattoos, particularly the difference between tattoos that look cool when you're young and buff, but look weird and a bit sad when you get older, and the kind that truly are well thought-out works of modern art, which are more likely to age gracefully.

I liked this whole idea because I've never been a huge fan of the classic "I'm-a-rebellious-young-street-goer-who-likes-skulls-and-black-roses-an-shit" style designs. I will probably never get a tattoo myself, but as an art form, I find it very interesting.

So anyway i went and had a hunt around for some new and different approaches to a very old practice, and this is what I found:

This one (above) I particularly like. On his left wrist is three lines, "for writing haiku"

This one (above) is a 3D image!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope you enjoyed this exploration into alternate styles of body art. : )

wishing you all much joy and arty-ness

bjork and imogen heap's eco-house in wales...if only
pumpkin, orange, shoes
[info]blackwool
Hullo! Thought I'd share this link to a really amazing article about an eco community in Wales. Very very interesting.

Also, this is the official video for Bjork's the Dull Flame of Desire featuring Antony Hegarty. it features a mix of the three winning entries for their music video competition. I like the second one best i think, though the others are very clever.

Also imogen heap is so wonderful...

And, despite what others might say, i love these dresses : )
